Lesson #1
(The real adventure was Packing the landcrusier !)
Words of a song springs to mind ...always look on the bright side of life...
This task proved to be harder for Bill than he first thought it would be. Let me see if i can paint you a picture of how things went down.
Many many many hours of careful planning went into designing a "you beaut" canopy for the cruiser that was to carry all our camping gear that we will need when we leave our van and go off track to hard to get to places where no vans or many mans goes !!
Now clearly I forgot that I should have applied the venus and mars concept to my thinking and just hold things when asked to and not question why or make suggestions like "wouldn't it make more sense to... " Or "shouldn't you have put that in before you..."
" you just can't throw things in willy nilly Vicki" if i heard those words once.... " " it's all about weight distribution, everything has to have a place and it all has to be tied down so things don't fly around we are going into some pretty rough country you know..." blah blah blah
So what seemed to me as endless (did i mention endless)hours of packing things in ,then taking those things back out, measuring, re -positioning , screwing, drilling holes, then packing (the things that we just took out) back in again , then securing, tying down. then just when i dared to think-yes finally we have it, nope i was wrong , more moving & re tying things down - on and on it went day after day, season after season (i'm not kidding this all started in February - SUMMER & it is now May - AUTUMN ) then, out of nowhere with a few quite a few actually , harsh words muttered here and there while a couple of last minute alterations were made, all the frustrations of packing were washed down with a few beers & IT WAS DONE!!
We were packed, fully loaded with a tinny on top!
..And ready to go, finally.
Pine mountain to Longreach ( Via Lake Dyer, Laidley Qld)
